AUSTRALIAN ROSTRUM INC. (Northern Territory)

The Darwin Club of Rostrum, NT1 has developed a rather unusual style among Rostrum Clubs. We are a supportive, educational unit like all other Rostrum clubs. However we benefit from isolation by having become a discussion group.

Each week we have a fresh topic, - set two weeks before by consensus - exploring issues of topical or general interest, often on issues of high principle, such as eliminating poverty, and often too, on issues of high passion, such as asylum seekers.

We use our own software to ensure that all members get equally rotated through all of the roles that make up a traditional Rostrum meeting.

However, whether we are rostered to perform a role or not, we each research, or at least think through, the issue so that our roles and impromptus all address the topic of the day.

In consequence, in our public lives we hold polished opinions on a wide range of subjects.  Thus practised, we are ready to "speak when we ought not remain silent".
